Trainer James Cummings believes that Tally has another good run left in him and can add to his impressive race record in the 2019 $1m Sky Racing Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Tally gained a ‘Wild Card’ entry into the Magic Millions Trophy with his last start win in the Magic Millions Shoot Out Quality (2200m) at Doomben on December 29 and bookies at Ladbtokes.com.au have included the six year old among the top chances on the second line of betting at $4.20.

The Handicapper has allocated Tally with the 61kg top weight but Cummings is confident the nine times winner will be very competitive even with the huge impost.

“I think he’s quite well-placed and I think he’s got one run left in the tank,” Cummings said.

“If that’s the case, then I think he can be extremely competitive.”

Tally has shown in the past his good staying ability and as well as winning over 2200m at Doomben last start, was a winner over 2400m when he scored a narrow victory in the 2017 Listed $300,000 Ladbrokes Mornington Cup.

Brenton Avdulla was aboard Tally for his all the way win at Doomben and the top Sydney based jockey gets the ride again on the tough stayer who will jump from gate eleven in the sixteen horse Magic Millions Trophy field if all of the emergencies fail to gain a start.

The Chris Waller trained Tumultuous chased Tally home at Doomben to find the runner’s up stall and has been installed as the $3.80 favourite for the Magic Millions Trophy at Ladbrokes.com.au and Robbie Fradd will be in the saddle again and will give the five year old every chance from the inside gate.

The Bjorn Baker trained Goodfella is on the third line of betting at $7.50 while Black On Gold is the only other runner under the $10 mark at $9.50.
