Jason Warren’s stable star Bel Sonic travelled safely up to Brisbane in the early hours of yesterday morning in preparation for the lucrative $2M Magic Millions 3yo Guineas in a fortnight.

After a few minor hiccups which included being bumped off a Thursday night flight, the gelding son of Bel Esprit was able to secure a private charter despite several delays. “He was very composed from door to door and took it all in his stride even though it wasn’t all smooth sailing. He had his head straight in the feed bin once he got to the stables at Eagle Farm and he’ll have the next 24-48 to fully recover from the travel” Warren said.

Bel Sonic earned his trip up North following his exciting last-to-first win in the Vobis Gold Carat last week at Moonee Valley, catapulting him up the Order of Entry and all but guaranteeing him a start in the 16 horse field on the Gold Coast on January 13. “I thought he was very impressive last week. He reeled off some great sectionals off a slowish tempo, not many horses can do that unless they’re Group class” Warren added.

The 3yo Guineas will be Bel Sonic’s first tilt at 1400m but he gives every indication he can run out a strong 7 furlongs, especially on a Gold Coast track where they historically run along in the early stages. “We needed to get him up here as early as possible as he can be hot at times. This will allow him to settle in his new environment and put in a few solid gallops in the clockwise direction to have him spot on for the 1400m” Jason commented. “We haven’t got to the bottom of this bloke yet, so I’m really excited with what he can produce in a fortnight” he added.

Jason is coinciding his exciting adventure with Bel Sonic with his annual visit to the Magic Millions Yearling Sales, where he bought the exciting gelding back in 2016 for only $80k.
