An excellent performance by horse, trainer and jockey in Private Hero pulling off a first up win at Sunshine Coast on April 1.

After the wet conditions had disrupted many of the horses’ preparations, Hero went into the race nice and fresh, but he responded as if to say it suited him, with an authorative win.

He didn’t appear totally happy in the Heavy 8 conditions, but with Steph Lacy riding perfectly to John Symons’ instructions, he was allowed to be happy in the run, saved ground on the turn, balanced up, and he stretched out nicely to win by a length.

He will now step up a little more in distance and hopefully the approach of keeping him nice and fresh will now extend to strong form in city class races.
