Trainer Ben Smith said that In Her Time will have a month in the paddock before beginning her preparation for the $13m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13 and not run in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 9.

“After consideration we have decided now that we are going to spell In Her Time,” Smith said on twitter.

“From here she will have four weeks and then we will get her back and get her ready for The Everest.”

“At this stage it is the best thing for the horse. Our main goal, main focus, is The Everest.”

“So with that in mind we will spell her this week and she will have four weeks and get her back for The Everest.”

“She is still in good order but we just feel that the time is right to give her a rest now and then concentrate on The Everest and look forward to it.”

In Her Time has been snapped up by TAB to fill their slot in the 2018 The Everest and Smith is excited to have locked in a slot so early which will give him plenty of time to prepare the Group 1 winning mare for the rich sprint.

“We are extremely excited to be part of The Everest this year and really look forward to working with TAB. She is a better horse this season than she was last and we are really grateful to the TAB for this wonderful opportunity,” Smith said.

“We are not rushed, we won’t have to worry about qualifying the mare, we can just concentrate on preparing her for the race.’’

In Her Time missed out on securing a slot in the inaugural running of The Everest during the 2017 Sydney Spring Carnival but won the consolation race on the same day, the Listed $500,000 Sydney Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

The five year old mare has since claimed Group 1 glory with a win over English in the Group 1 $700,000 The PFD Food Services Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill during the 2018 Sydney Autumn Carnival.

In Her Time then finished third behind Trapeze Artist and Redzel in the Group 1 $2.5m Darley T J Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on day one of The Championhips and then was slightly disappointing last start when ninth to English in the Group 1 $700,000 Kirin Doomben 10,000 (1200m) at Doomben on May 12.
