It was great to see Shamal Lass and Vassa Blue break their maiden status over the weekend.
Shamal Lass won impressively at Donald with Liam Riordan in the saddle.
She had shown plenty of ability in her two starts previously and it was great to follow up her terrific run at the May Carnival with a win at her next start.
With the Vobis bonuses on offer she certainly is a great little money spinner for her connections.
Vassa Blue went to Ballarat on Sunday on the new synthetic track.
Although we were unsure how he would perform on the different surface it was great to see him get the win on the board for his large ownership group.
He too had put a couple of very encouraging runs together and showed the result over the May Carnival read worse than what the performance was.
Both horses look to have encouraging futures ahead of them.
