JWR are heading to Sandown’s Twilight meeting later on brimming with confidence, following an Australia Day Weekend Double with Smooth Celebration and She Keeps Nosecret. Both winners testing the patience of both sets of owners in their own way, but finally broke through for their maiden wins.

Our first runner today features in Race 2, where No Reward is looking to make amends from her disappointing first-up run. “She seemed to resent the gear we had applied to her for the race and we have since taken that off”, Trainer Jason Warren said. “Her work has been good since and with a run under her belt, I believe she can put her best foot forward and fight out the finish”, he added.

No Reward faces a small but handy field, headed up by last start winner and short-priced favourite Won Ball who is expected to take up the early running. She is rated a $26 chance for today’s assignment.

Our second runner for the evening is ever consistent Star Silk who competes in the final race on the card. Luckless in his last outing at Headquarters, the son of Star Witness is crying out for some early speed and today looks to be his day. With a full field of 16 runners taking their place, our boy will be smothered up in the early stages and looking to unleash late. “He ran 34.11 for his last 600m at Flemington off a slow tempo and not much went his way” Warren commented. “If he can get a suck run off some early speed it gives him a big chance” he added.

Star Silk has had some support in the market, firming into $9 from his opening quote of $14.

The JWR team are beginning to hit their straps after a series of outs over the New Year period, with plenty more horses emerging at the racetrack in the near future. To view what we have available and get involved in the stable, Click Here
