As the Spring Carnival officially draws to a close today, JWR are looking to go out with a BANG! Continuing with our consistent win & place strike rates over the last month we are represented by rejuvenated 5yo Raghu. He heads into the G3 Eclipse Stakes today brimming with confidence following his soft win in the Ladbrokes Peninsula Cup first-up a fortnight ago.
Although today’s race has come up stronger than previous editions, ‘winning form is good form’, and that’s what our bloke has. He will strip fitter for today’s 1800m contest and has not missed a beat or left an oat in the last fortnight.
Drawing barrier 6, minimum weight and a Soft 5 rated track are all positive factors for the son of Showcasing. It will give him every chance to show off his high cruising speed and take advantage of his light weight. In form apprentice Ben Thompson will be looking to make the most of a great opportunity today, he always maintains a cool head in sticky situations and the early stages of today’s race will require some quick decision making.
I have every confidence that this classy horse will be in the race for a long way today, and with a quoted price of $26 and longer he is definitely worth an each-way flutter.
Our other runner for the day is Star Silk, who will be competing in Race 3 at Cranbourne this evening. In his only two starts, he has run into some pretty smart horses that have bright futures and I believe he is the same. Tonight’s race doesn’t have any unknown diamonds in the rough and we expect him to be very hard to beat.

The VRC Carnival was yet again a great spectacle, but also the coming of age for young sire Pierro. Highlighted by Pinot’s outstandingly tough win in the G1 VRC Oaks, he also sired winners in G3 & Listed races over the week at Headquarters making his progeny highly sought after.
