The field for the weight for age sprint has been reduced to seven runners following the early scratching of the Bjorn Baker trainer Goodfella with Global Glamour holding her place at the top of the market order at $2.80 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Goodfella’s stablemate Addictive Nature is marked at $3.20 and is putting plenty of pressure on Global Glamour for the top spot while Golden Rose winner Trapeze Artist is also well in contention at $3.90.

Global Glamour has had one run back from a spell for a first up sixth to Invincibella in the $1m Magic Millions Fillies and Mares (1300m) at the Gold Coast on January 13 and co-trainer Gai Waterhouse has reported that the Star Witness mare has returned to Tulloch Lodge at Randwidk in great shape.

“Global Glamour has had some time between runs since returning from Queensland and she could not be looking or training better at this stage of her preparation,” Waterhouse wrote on her website.

“She rates the favourite in a small but select field and she’ll put in a mighty showing come race day. Strong winning chance.”

Global Glamour hit the spotlight during the 2016 Spring Carnival when she won back to back Group 1 races for the three year old fillies in the $500,000 Sydney Airport Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and a week later in the $500,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.

Global Glamour has failed to win in Group 1 company since but has won twice at Group 2 level with a win in the $200,000 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival and a win in the $200,000 Schweppes Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield during the 2017 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Kerrin McEvoy returns from injury to ride Global Glamour in the Expressway Stakes and the Melbourne Cup winning jockey is hoping for another win on the mare after they shared the Thousand Guineas victory together.
