Positive Peace was stepping straight out of restricted class, coming off a win a 1350m BenchMark 88 Handicap at Rosehill a fortnight ago, and she lived up to Baker’s high opinion of the mare.

“Massive thrill with Positive Peace winning the Gr. 2 Emancipation Stakes- her first Stakes race. It’s been a fantastic journey bringing her through the grades & I can’t thank Steve & Louise Gillard enough! Go TC! Love putting him on,” Baker tweeted from his home.

Baker left the race day duties up to his foreman Stephen McLean who said that his boss had always held a high opinion of Positive Peace.

“I think she has probably done it a bit quicker than what Bjorn thought she would. He has always held her in high regards. It was always touch and go as to whether she would go to the paddock after her last win. She has done nothing wrong, we can’t fault her one little bit,” McLean said.

“Bjorn (Baker) has had a bit of a throw at the stumps today up in class but she got the job done. Never doubt the man.”

“She is nominated for the Coolmore Legacy in two weeks. Who knows, if she continues to thrive Bjorn might go again.”

Positive Peace is now marked at $12 at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Legacy Stakes (formerly the Queen Of The Turf Stakes) (1600m) at Randwick on Day two of The Championships on April 11.

Tim Clark took over the reins from James McDonald and always had Positive Peace ($7.50) in a handy position from the outset and the mare went on to record a one and a quarter lengths win over the Chris Waller trained Noire ($10).

The Team Hawkes trained Amangiri ($7.50) also raced on the speed and battled on for third while the $3.10 favourite Sweet Deal came in in fifth spot.
