Aramayo is ready to explode in the Saturday’s Group 1 $1m Mostyn Copper Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick after having no luck at Caulfield last start.

The Godolphin owned three year old Aramayo was left flat footed on the corner before winding up in the straight to finish third to Global Exchange in the Group 2 $200,000 Heritage Finance Caulfield Autumn Classic (1800m) and trainer James Cummings immediately transferred the Poet’s Voice colt back to his Sydney stables and declared that he would go into the Randwick Guineas with plenty of energy left over from his last outing.

“He’s set for the best effort of his campaign so far,” Cummings said.

“He’s back to the scene of his career-best performance in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes.”

“And having been a victim of circumstances last start at Caulfield, he has a reserve of stored up energy that he can produce on Saturday.”

Aramayo has performed well at Group 1 level in the past with a narrow second to Maid Of Heaven in the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick during the 2018 Sydney Spring Carnival and Cummings is eyeing off the Group 1 $2m Harrolds Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick on Day One of The Championships on April 6.

James McDonald takes over from Hugh Bowman on Aramayo who has drawn barrier six in the nine horse Randwick Guineas field.

Betting at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Randwick Guineas has Aramayo as one of the outsiders of the field at $21 while the Chris Waller trained The Autumn Sun dominates the betting at $1.60.

The Autumn Sun is already the winner of three Group 1 races from only seven race starts and had a nice little 2019 Sydney Autumn Carnival pipe opener for a comfortable win in the Group 2 $400,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on February 23.
