Yesterday produced one of the most breathtaking performances by a Denistoun Park galloper ever. Brooklyn Hustle arrived onto the farm on the 2nd of October along with Miss Toorak Flyer from the Rosemont team. Truck arrived at 8.00am and she was under saddle the same morning. All the normal racing cliches aside from that very first morning we knew she had something special. So natural and confident she was settled into her new home immediately . It’s a huge credit to Mark Young and his team for the work they put in before she headed to us.
Eight weeks , 2 jumps outs and 1 trial later she arrived at the Valley Saturday with the weight of expectation of the stable on her already mighty shoulders.The night before her travel mate Miss Toorak Flyer had saluted in the same silks having produced a barnstorming finish. We hoped Saturday would present a deal less nerve wrenching scenario. Drawn barrier 1 we expected her to box seat and then show us and the racing community what ability was buried deep in her frame. If you’re reading this you will know the rest already . How good ? Well you saw as much as we did at the track. I’ll just reiterate , first prep, barely galloped in anger and she still produced that final 200m.
Blue Diamond , Slipper and the world was the reaction from those who get paid to write the headlines. Whilst they were being written “BH” was home , dinner finished and not a hair turned . As bright and beautiful as the rising sun she went for a pick this morning and you simply wouldn’t know she had even been to the races. The boss worked for the legend that is Lee Freedman and understands what is needed from here. She maybe the current playground bully who is just plain bigger and stronger than the rest. It will be the greatest disappointment ( and there have been many ) of my life if she isn’t anointed the dux of her class as the season rolls on.
The week has been crazy , every plan executed and landed with four high quality wins. As much as I enjoyed them all yesterday was a surreal experience . Time briefly stood still as she mowed them down, winning with contempt. She has super model looks that would sure be complemented with diamonds and maybe a slipper.
