Verry Elleegant looked the winner of the Group 1 $700,000 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill last Saturday when she loomed up in the straight to poke her nose in front before English raider Addeybb fought back to claim the Group 1 weight for age prize.

Trainer Chris Waller wouldn’t commit after the race when Verry Elleegant would return to the racetrack, but the champion trainer sent out a tweet this morning indicating that last year’s Australian Oaks winner would be among the final acceptors for the Tancred Stakes.

“Verry Elleegant has come through her terrific run in the Ranvet Stakes without any issues & will accept in the Tancred Stakes this Saturday with James McDonald in the saddle,” Waller tweeted.

Verry Elleegant has been racing consistently during her Sydney Autumn Carnival campaign and prior to running second to Addeybb in the Ranvet, was also runner up to Te Akau Shark in the Group 1 $600,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on February 29.

Jockey James McDonald has been the regular rider for Verry Elleegant since she entered the Waller stable just over twelve months ago and will have the ride again in the weight for age Tancred Stakes.

Verry Elleegant has drawn barrier six in the field of nine with the James Cummings trained Avilius to carry the number one saddlecloth from gate four with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Last Saturday’s N E Manion Cup runner up Mugatoo (Kerrin McEvoy, barrier 9) is also backing up week to week and is one of three Kris Lees trained stayers in the field.

Lees will also saddle up Mustajeer, barrier two with Nash Rawiller to ride, and Danceteria with Brenton Avdulla from barrier seven.
