Scone trainer Paul Messara has sent Outburst North to chase some Stakes prizemoney and also to boost the local profile of Japanese shuttle stallion Real Impact.

“He (Real Impact) has three-year-olds doing well in the northern hemisphere and we are hoping he will get top three-year-olds here,” Messara told AAP.

“It would obviously be great for us to get his first Australian winner and first Australian stakes winner.”

Outburst has been to the races on two occasions for a debut second in a 1280m Muswellbrook Maiden on May 24 followed by a win in a 1400m Scone Maiden on June 9 and Messara said the Real Impact gelding will be sent for spell after running in The Phoienix.

“He can have a break after Saturday and I think in six months you will see a really nice horse. We will look for races for him in the spring carnivals,” Messara said.

In-form jockey Brad Stewart has secured the ride on Outburst who has drawn a midfield barrier at five in the ten-horse The Phoenix field.

Outburst has been installed as the $3.60 favourite for The Phoenix at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of the Stuart Kendrick trained Cosmic Gossip at $4.40 and Tony Gollan’s last start winner The Actuary at $5.

Cosmic Gossip is the winner of two of his eight starts and is coming off a last start twelfth in the Group 1 $350,000 J.J. Atkins (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 6 and will jump from gate seven with James Orman in the saddle.

Apprentice Baylee Nothdurft takes the ride on The Actuary (barrier 1) who broke through for his Maiden win over 1350m at Doomben last start and is taking the step up in distance and Grade in The Phoenix.
