Lyre is one of two Anthony Freedman trained fillies among the nineteen nominations with stablemate Paris also entered for the Group 3 for the new season three year old fillies.

Lyre scored a hat trick of wins during the 2019 Melbourne Autumn Carnival and after breaking her maiden at Sale on January 20 went on to win the Group 2 $200,000 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) (1100m) at Caulfield before winning the Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 23.

Freedman then turned his attention to Sydney and was looking for a two year old Group 1 double but Lyre could only mange to finish third behind Kiamichi and Microphone in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23.

Lyre is set to resume from a winter break in the Quezette Stakes and stable representative Sam Freedman is expecting a forward showing but also pointed out that the Lonhro filly will take a lot of benefit for the run.

“She trialled well the other day. She’s probably taking a little longer this prep to come to herself but she is going nicely. She’ll run really well but she will have improvement in her if she goes there,” Sam Freedman told AAP.

“We’ll probably ride her quiet and look for her to finish off strong.”

Lyre’s stablemate Paris will be taking a huge step up in grade in the Quezette Stakes after scoring a one length win in a 1000m Maiden at Cranbourne on July 17.

The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have nominated three fillies for the Quezette Stakes, last start winners Taraayef and Excuses as well as Lankan Star, while co-trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace also have three entries with Bella Rosa, Kooweerup and Seatonic.

Trainer James Cummings has nominated Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Exhilarates along with Black Opal Stakes winner Pen Sec while Jason Warren is represented with his brilliant filly Brooklyn Hustle.
