Caulfield trainer Mick Price has removed the blinkers from Seabrook for her rematch with Verry Elleegant in Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill.

Seabrook raced on the pace for Michael Walker and had to settle for the runner’s up cheque when she couldn’t match it with Verry Elleegant who raced away to record a three and a half lengths win in the Group 2 $200,000 Chandon S Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) Rosehill s fortnight ago.

Price is expecting new jockey Brett Prebble to ride Seabrook more quietly from barrier eleven in the thirteen horse Vinery Stud Stakes field and with the blinkers off hopes to see her settle in the second half of the field.

“I think there’s a good opportunity for there to be a bit of speed on, enough speed from that gate so that we can poke in somewhere,” Price told AAP.

“I’m happy with the filly. Prebble rode her on Tuesday morning and said she worked super.

“She’s done the work, blinkers off, she seems to handle the ground OK so if she can’t fire over 2000 metres she’s just not good enough. She’s had the perfect prep.”

The Hinchinbrook filly is stepping up to 2000m in the Vinery Stud Stakes for the first time and Price is hoping her staying bloodlines on her dam side will help her handle the extra distance.

“Not many Hinchinbrooks get tried over 2000 metres but she is out of a Don Eduardo mare and she is a pretty clean-winded horse,” Price said.

Verry Elleegant won the Phar Lap Stakes as the short priced favourite and has been installed as the popular pick again for the Vinery Stud Stakes at $2.40 at Ladbrokes.com.au while Seabrook is at the double figure odds of $21 on race eve.

James McDonald will again be aboard Verry Elleegant who will jump from barrier five and the Chris Waller trained filly will also have a gear change with the Ear Muffs staying on for the race while the nose roll is coming off.
