Begood Toya Mother was the winner of his last five starts in restricted class before trainer Danial Bowman gave the four year old a short break after winning a 1440m Benchmark 84 Handicap at Caulfield on June 1.

Bowman will now test out the rising five year old in tougher company with the possibility of gaining a start in the Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 21.

“I think he has put the writing on the wall that he could measure up to stakes level,” Bowman told AAP.

“Whether that’s Group One level, we’ll find out. There’s only one way to find out.

“We’ll have a crack at the Rupert Clarke and if he’s good enough that would be great. And if he’s not we can always come back a peg or two.”

Bowman has Begood Toya Mother back in work and has picked out the Listed $140,000 Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 17 as the gelding’s Spring Carnival pipe opener.

“He just had three weeks off and he’s been back in a couple of weeks now,” Bowman said.

“He’ll start to gallop this week and he’ll have a couple of jump-outs before he kicks off in the Regal Roller on the 17th (August).”
