Winning jockey Tim Clark took Arbeitsam ($4.20 equal favourite) straight to the front from 2000m start and dictated the race from the outset before holding on to record a tough win.

The John Thompson trained Maurus ($21) ran on from the back for Corey Brown for second placing, half a length behind the winner with Almost Court ($10) filling third spot.

The Chris Waller trained French import One Foot In Heaven was sent out as the $4.20 equal favourite but was never a threat and finished in sixth position.

Gai Waterhouse, who trains in partnership with Adrian Bott, said that the win in the Neville Sellwood Stakes over the 2000m worked in nicely with her plans to start the four year in next week’s Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on day one of The Championships.

“It was a lovely win,” Waterhouse said.

“Did you notice how cushily Tim Clark had him going. He didn’t over extend him. He just got him into a beautiful rhythm and the gelding just kept on extending.”

“I was really pleased to see this Dynamic horse win. He has had his foot on the till for the last few starts.”

“We specifically chose this race to aid him to get into the Doncaster because I just thought the 2000m would be easier than the 1500m Prelude.”

Arbeitsam is down in the weights in the Doncaster Mile with 50kg and today’s win has seen him firm in from $61 to $26 at Ladbrokes.com.au for the famous Randwick Mile.

The James Cummings trained three year old Kementari remains the $4 favourite for the Doncaster Mile just ahead of the top weight Happy Clapper at $5.50.
