Emirates Stakes Day today is the last day of the four day 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington. The Group 1 $6.25m Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) was won by the Irish stayer Rekindling and the winning trophy for the Group 1 $2m Emirates Stakes (2000m) could also be heading overseas as well with the English galloper Folkswood and the Group 1 winning Kiwi Gingernuts prominent the betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Group 1 $1m Darley Classic (1200m) for the sprinters down the Flemington straight is also a highlight on the nine event card which is well supported by the Group 2 $300,000 7News Matriarch Stakes (2000m) for the mares and by the Group 3 $150,000 AAMI Maribyrnong Plate (1000m)  for the two year olds while the open class stayers will get their chance in the Group 3 $300,000 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m).
