Alizee is the $3.30 race morning favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Group 1 $1m New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) and trainer James Cummings is expecting the Group 1 winning mare to be hard to beat.

“The interesting thing about this weekend is that it is somewhat a fork in the road for her,” Cummings told AAP.

“It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate where she sits in the pecking order for Godolphin’s Everest selection. The pressure will be on her again but we’re confident she’ll run well.”

“She does look a bit mean and burly with further improvement to come as we get deeper into the carnival. We are still expecting her to be able to produce a big effort second-up at seven furlongs.”

Alizee is marked at $12 for The Everest at Ladbrokes.com.au while her main rival for Godolphin’s Everest slot is the stable’s top line sprinter Osborne Bulls who is on the second line of betting at $7.

Alizee is the winner of three Group 1 races which include the weight for age $500,000 Yulong Futurity Stakes over the same course and distance as today’s Memsie Stakes during the 2019 Melbourne Autumn Carnival.

The Sepoy mare was superb in scoring a tough first up win in the Group 2 $200,000 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on August 10 with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Damien Oliver takes the ride today on Alizee who will need plenty of luck after drawing barrier eleven in the thirteen horse Memsie Stakes field while Cummings will also saddle up stable warhorse Hartnell ($7) who will jump from the inside gate with Craig Williams in the saddle.

Betting for the 2019 Memsie Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.30 Alizee, $4.20 Scales Of Justice, $7 Hartnell, $8.50 Cliff’s Edge, $9 Begood Toya Mother, $11 Fundamentalist, $20 So Si Bon, $21 Humidor, $26 Despatch, $34 Sesar, Oohood, $51 Black Heart Bart, $91 Material Man.
