Godolphin’s Group 1 winning mare Alizee will shoot for a slot in The Everest when she kicks off her 2019 Spring Carnival Campaign in the Group 2 $200,000 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on August 10.

The three times Group 1 winner is gearing up for her return to the racetrack with a handy win in a 900m barrier trial at Randwick on July 30 and trainer James Cummings is not ruling out the mare being allocated to the Godolphin owned slot for the $14m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 19.

“The Everest is relevant with Alizee,’’ Cummings told The Daily Telegraph.

“We are reserving the opportunity to make that decision later.’’

The Missile Stakes will be Alizee’s first run back since finishing sixth to Kenedna in the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Day Two of The Championships on April 13 and Cummings very pleased with the way the Sepoy performed in her barrier trial for Hugh Bowman.

“She trialled beautifully,’’ Cummings said.

“Hugh and I are very happy with her going into the Missile. If she comes through this trial the way I expect her to then she will be ready to go.’’

Alizee burst into the Group 1 winner’s club early in her three year old season with her victory in the $500,000 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick during the 2017 Spring Carnival and then claimed another in the 22018 Sydney Autumn Carnival with her win in the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Legacy Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

The 2019 Melbourne Autumn Carnival was also a successful campaign for Alizee when she claimed her third Group 1 trophy with a win in the Group 1 $500,000 Yulong Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Godolphin are in no hurry to announce their candidate for their Everest slot with several of the stable in line to compete for the slot, including Group 1 bridesmaid Osborne Bulls who has been Group 1 runner up at his last five starts.
